Here’s something the Rootes dudes
didn’t worry about, sound deadening.
British pop top roadsters were noisy,
and no one cared, in fact, revving motors and roaring road noise seemed part of
the charm. But it’s not like they NEVER
thought about how loud their cars were. The
Series V added an upgraded air filter that cut down some (but not much) engine
noise. (My lawnmower has better air
filtering than my Series IV.)
Sound Deadening: Adding sound deadening is dead simple these
days. Buy the stuff, cut it to fit, and
peel and stick, easy smeasy. Not much to
say, just some pics.
I ordered the stuff from Amazon, 390 mil 96"x39" with
100 microns (ųM) foil outer
layer, in case anyone cares. It’s enough
to do the front floors and inside the doors.
I may need to order a smaller piece for the rear seat area.
Measure, measure again, one more time, cut, peel... |
and stick! |
Doors too |
And after pic - helpful hint, cover the top of the steering column, it hurts! |
The brake master is cleaned and ready. (I forgot to shoot a before pic, sorry.) |
Cleaning the brake fluid resevoir means a basic cleaing with WD 40, but also requires separate soakings, once in water and bleach and a second in hydrogen peroxide. Not perfectly white, but sooo much better than before.
